Looking back at the past year

It’s the end of the year and I think it’s time to reflect.
Look back at the last 12 months and try to be retrospect.
Did I have a good year? Did I accomplish enough?
When reviewing my own life, I know I can be tough.

Here is what I did. It truly seems like a lot.
So why then do I feel that really it is not?

I took a writing workshop where I made some wonderful friends.
I wrote a book proposal and I learned some marketing trends.
I have a brand new website and I’m writing weekly blogs.
I spent a lot of time caring for my elderly dog.
I’m researching traditional publishers and I’m researching print on demand.
I’m trying to find ways to get my platform to expand.

I’ve had positive moments throughout the year where I feel I can accomplish it all.
And then there are times when I worry about the failures that might befall.
My present journey is exhilarating and scary all in one.
Sometimes it seems like too much work and other times it’s fun.

This venture into the unknown is something I must do.
But what I should remember is that baby steps will carry me through.
I set high standards for myself. I really shouldn’t do that.
For all it does is cause me angst if my lofty goals fall flat.
One day, one hour, one minute at a time and I know my goals will be met.
Enjoy the process. Enjoy the moment. There is no need to fret!

I’d like to thank you all for your amazing support and love.
I’m also ever so grateful for the grace that comes from above.

I hope your holiday is filled with love and oodles and oodles of fun.
And may this coming New Year be a happy and healthy one!
